The Ingersoll Rand E‑LIFT™ Series Electric Intelligent Balancer helps operators lift, position, and manipulate supported loads during assembly, material-handling, and other repetitive work. It combines servo-controlled lifting with an inline slide-control handle for responsive movement and precise load positioning.
This article covers the currently available EIS inline slide-control models. For other E‑LIFT equipment, see E‑LIFT™ Series Electric Lifting Solutions.

*Capacity includes the load and any attached handling device or tooling. Do not exceed the rated capacity of the balancer or connected equipment.
The 80 kg and 200 kg models use single-phase 220 V ±10% power. The 300 kg and 600 kg models use three-phase 220 V ±10% power. Qualified personnel must confirm the correct power supply before installation or service.
How E‑LIFT Intelligent Balancers Work
The inline slide-control handle senses the operator’s input to raise or lower the load. The balancer can support fast movement when needed and slower movement for precise positioning.
E‑LIFT intelligent balancers can also operate in Float Mode, which allows the operator to guide a properly supported load directly by hand with minimal force. This can be useful when positioning parts during assembly or when aligning a load with a fixture or workstation.
For safe operating instructions, including Float Mode and emergency-stop use, see Operating an E‑LIFT Electric Intelligent Balancer.
Features That Support Controlled Load Handling
Depending on the model and approved configuration, E‑LIFT intelligent balancers provide:
- Variable-speed control for responsive lifting and lowering
- Precise positioning for handling and assembly tasks
- Full-stroke Float Mode for guided load positioning
- Virtual upper and lower limits to define an approved travel range
- In-handle OLED display for operating information and approved settings
- Overload protection to prevent lifting above the rated capacity
- Anti-recoil technology to help control sudden changes in load
- Power-loss protection that holds the load in place if power is interrupted
- Configurable input/output points for compatible handling devices
Safety Notice: Do not use an E‑LIFT Electric Intelligent Balancer to lift, support, or transport people. Do not use damaged equipment, exceed the rated capacity, bypass safety features, or modify the balancer without Ingersoll Rand authorization.
Configuration and Service Access
The E‑LIFT system can be configured for the application, including approved limits, lifting-speed settings, and sensitivity settings. Because these settings can affect load movement and safe operation, configuration should be completed only by trained and authorized personnel.
If the balancer displays an alarm, does not move as expected, or has a performance issue, start with Troubleshooting an E‑LIFT Electric Intelligent Balancer.
Inspection and Maintenance
Regular inspection helps identify wear, damage, loose components, and control issues before they affect safe operation. Inspect the balancer, wire rope, hook or attached handling device, cables, controls, and safety devices at the intervals specified in the applicable manual.
For routine inspection requirements and maintenance guidance, see Inspecting and Maintaining an E‑LIFT Electric Intelligent Balancer.
